Two earthquakes recorded near Sossusvlei

THE Ministry of Mines and Energy confirmed the occurrence of two earthquakes that were recorded approximately 43 kilometres (km) south of Sossusvlei on Saturday.
The ministry stated that both earthquakes occurred at a shallow depth of 15km.
The first earthquake, which occurred at 5:59, registered a local magnitude (ML) of 4,3 at a latitude (Y) of -25,069° South and a longitude (X) of 15,244° East. The second earthquake, which occurred at 6:56, registered a 3,8 ML at a latitude of -25,035° and a longitude of 15,395°.
The ministry further stated that the earthquakes were recorded by all ten local seismic stations at the Namibian Seismology Network in Windhoek, Kamanjab, Opuwo, Karibib, Aus, Katima Mulilo, Rundu, Ariamsvlei, Tsumeb and Gobabis and the regional seismic stations from South Africa Seismic Network.
