Ambulance accident after arrest of double murder suspect
Placido Hilukilwa SIMON Kandume, the suspect in the double murder incident that occurred at Okangwena, Ondangwa, during the early morning hours of today, has been arrested.
According to the police, the suspect did not flee the scene of the crime.
He was found hiding in one of the rooms of the Okangwena house. It is suspected that he poisoned himself and was physically debilitated when he was found.
He was rushed to the Onandjokwe district hospital but the ambulance was involved in an accident before reaching the health facility. Further details are not yet available.
The ex-soldier of the Namibian Defence Force faces charges of murder and attempted murder following the death of his co-habiting girlfriend Ruth Ndapandula Immanuel (37) and their two-year-old daughter, Lovisa Kandume.
Both died of stab wounds. Another child, Frankel Simon Kandume (13), is currently admitted to the Onandjokwe district hospital in critical condition.
According to the police, Immanuel and the suspect were in a long-term love relationship and had three children together: a boy and two girls.
